The Natural Monument of Mount Santiago is undoubtedly one of these jewels that Burgos treasures. Bordering the Basque Country, it is home to one of the most spectacular and unique waterfalls on the peninsula. A simple route crosses the leafy beech forest that populates these mountains, home to wolves in the past, without anything to make us wait for the aerial viewpoint that awaits us. The Nervión River flows through a complex karstic system which, when saturated by rain or melting ice, causes the water to resurface on the surface and then precipitate into the void.

The Sabinares del Arlanza, one of the largest and best preserved in the world, is the home chosen among many other species by the griffon vulture. Franqueada by the Iberian System, the Cantabrian Mountains, the Basque Mountains and the Central System, Burgos is land of mountains and the top of the San Millán Peak with its 2131 m is its maximum altitude. There are several routes that ascend to this summit, one of the queens of the Mountain range of La Demanda and several also its difficulties. Barbadillo de Herreros to the south or Santa Cruz del Valle de Urbión for its spectacular north face are the most common starting points to crown this mythical mountain of Burgos.

Few gorges as rugged and narrow as the gorge of La Yecla can be crossed as easily as this one, as long as the ice does not take possession of the footbridges that furrow it, in which case the spectacle is amplified even more than the difficulty to visit it. The proximity to the well-known Santo Domingo de Silos Monastery and the singularity of the natural space to which it belongs make it an obligatory stop for nature lovers and for those who come to the area doing tourism.
