What do you think about going on holiday to the Canaries this year?
And so it was, what happens, is that apart from the swimsuit and sunscreen, in our suitcase were also the backpacks, boots, walking poles, headlamps ... and everything needed for trekking.
When we arrived at Santa Cruz de la Palma airport we were not yet aware that we had just landed in one of the hiker's paradises in our country. The route of the volcanoes, Los Nacientes de Marcos y Cordero, La Caldera de Taburiente National Park with the Roque de Idafe and the Cascada de Colores, El Roque de los Muchachos (2426 m) with its astrophysical observatory, the Barranco de las Angustias, El Cubo de la Galga, Pico Bejenado... Laurel forest, and Canary Island pine, dredges, Canary Island palm, giant ferns... (which make this island also known as "the green island").
The black sand beaches like Los Cancajos and Porto Naos, the natural pools (Charco Azul). The Fuencaliente lighthouse and its salt mines watched over by the Teneguía volcano. The orange-billed rook and the black lizard with its blue colors, the palmer finch... Its wines, reds, rosés and its special Malvasia, its gastronomy with its rabbit in salmorejo, the old clothes, its potatoes with mojo (red, green of garlic..) the bananas, its varied desserts...
The historic spring of Fuente Santa ,according to history with therapeutic properties, recovered in 2005 after being buried for 328 years by the eruption of the San Antonio volcano. Who gives more?
After that year we returned twice more, because as the song says, "a little piece of our heart was buried there".
We would be grateful if you could write to us to inform us of a ny erroneous or outdated information you have found, or simply to let us know what you think at Thank you very much.
