Did you know that... Arleta

It is a place added to the municipality of Esteribar, located in the southern part of the Esteribar valley, on the right bank of the river Arga, in a plain. The Lordship of Arleta was maintained until the beginning of the 19th century. Towards the year 1300 it was completely depopulated, in 1427 it was inhabited by the Escudero Miguel García de Arleta and in 1802 it was inhabited by 3 families. Former place of noble lordship, was the only one in the valley that paid three salaries in cash and had the character of lordship until the beginning of the nineteenth century, despite it was governed by the deputy appointed by Esteríbar and an alderman elected alternately between the families.

To discover What to see in Arleta?

The palace considered Cape Armory, head of the lordship of Arleta, enlarged with a brick wing. The door leads to a courtyard and on one side there is a tower with a arrow window and a tri-lobed twin arch. The manor of Arleta had a hermitage, that of San Martín, now disappeared, which was located on the grounds of the palace. In the vicinity of the palace there are remains of an old road and several stelae. The church is dedicated to the cult of Santa Marina and has a simple Romanesque façade. Inside the church is the tabernacle, which dates back to the 16th century. The current titular image is an eighteenth-century dress image that replaces the old late Gothic carving of Santa Marina that is now located next to the altarpiece.
