Or simply La Laguna, is one of the towns that make up the municipality of Vega de Valcarce, in the region of Bierzo. In 1858 it had the category of village.
Laguna de Castilla is a nice preview of what awaits the visitor a little higher up, the emblematic O Cebreiro. In this small rural mountain village, such as Laguna de Castilla, you can see three hórreos, although their state of conservation is not very good, are square, Asturian type and date from the nineteenth century.
A short distance from the village, the tradition tells that a hermitage marked the entrance to Galicia through the province of Lugo.
Laguna de Castilla can be reached from O Cebreiro or from the N-VI, more specifically taking the detour that we will find in the section that goes from La Portela de Valcarce to Pedrafita do Cebreiro and that reaches Laguna de Castilla through Las Herrerías de Valcarce and La Faba.
There are several bus service lines that connect Pedrafita do Cebreiro with Lugo and Ponferrada every day of the week at different times. From Pedrafita do Cebreiro to Laguna de Castilla the distance is covered by taxi services.
