Did you know that... Trabadelo

Where the Way of Saint James passes, it is located on a small plain on the left bank of the river Valcarce in the region of El Bierzo. Once known as TRAVADELO, it was under the jurisdiction of the Castle of Sarracín de Vega de Valcarce. Its origins date back to Roman times and its gold mines in the area. It was repopulated by the bishop Gelmirez and in the 16th century there was a chapel dedicated to Saint Lazarus, next to it would probably be located a hospital for pilgrims, but nothing remains of both. Trabadelo is the capital of the municipality which, together with eight other villages around it, gives it its name.
