Did you know that... Valverde de la Virgen

At the confluence of the stream of the Raposeras and the stream of the Oncina, a tributary of the river Esla, Valverde de la Virgen is located in the centre of the municipality of the same name of which it forms part and which includes several localities, Fresno, Montejos, San Miguel and La Virgen, all of them under the nickname of the Way because they are located in the middle of the Jacobean route. This municipality was created in the mid-nineteenth century rather by an administrative provision. Previously they formed part of the municipality of Quintana Raneros. At first it was called Valverde del Camino but in the first quarter of the 20th century, and on the occasion of the proclamation and coronation of the patron saint of the entire region of León, Nuestra Señora la Virgen del Camino, officially changed its name to Valverde de la Virgen. In the town of Valverde de la Virgen is the Town Hall. It belonged to the old Brotherhood of Valdoncina.
